This review is for the Service Department, not sales. I brought my Volvo in to see why the check-engine light was on. The service advisor charged me $250 for the analysis but said that the money would be credited or refunded once I had the actual repairs. He told me what needed to be fixed and then said that he would call my extended-warranty company the next morning to get pre-authorization for the repairs. I waited three weeks but heard nothing. Wish I could provide a nice review for Volvo Cars Santa Monica as I love to share recommendations whenever possible, but this has been a disappointing experience to say the least. It started with a lack of communication on the arrival date for my new XC40. I can understand a few glitches there because of the supply chain issues, but that was just the beginning. Unclear fees charged on a routine check up. Additional repairs performed and charged without approval. Would have liked clearer communication on the potential repairs. I recommend going to a local repair shop over this. Likely 2-3x as much as others would charge for services.

Absolutely terrible customer service, very rude attitude. I arrived for my appointment, and they were able to help me 35mins after the appointment time. The service advisor started screaming me at me that I made an appointment for something I didn't and saying I'd have to come back another day. I had my appt booked in advance and my travel schedule does not allow me to continue retuning different days. I observed this colleague screaming at other customers as well. Disclaimer: I didn't buy a car from them - but I was a prospective buyer... first off, they don't have a huge inventory - and at least for XC90s, they seem to only carry the higher trims. Other dealers in the area have WAY more choice. I went in to test drive a car I was interested in and chatted with a few of the reps there... some where very helpful, some... not so much. I am a 17 years old teenager and I will finish a review that my mom could not, because she wanted me to share my first experience buying a car. Service review. 1 star - not good. Took our 2020 Volvo in for routine maintenance (the car's first ever service). Everything was good until one day later when all of the oil leaked out of the engine after driving 4 miles post service. Was stranded, had to have the car towed to the dealership on a Sunday when they are closed. Monday rolls around. No one calls. Terrible service. I have a 2017 xc90. I bought out the lease last year as I didn't feel safe car shopping during the pandemic. So I purchased an extended warranty for $4500 in case any issues arise. The last month I've been having a "power steering failure" alert. The wheel locks up and an alert pops up.
