We were hesitant of taking our cars to a Toyota Dealership because they do charge more for labor/diagnosis than the privately owned shops but after having a nightmare experience, we wanted things done properly so we gave Toyota a shot. No more cutting corners and we should have brought it here in the first place!!! Instead of saving money, we lost thousands taking it elsewhere...so don't make the same mistake we did. Chris Huynh was wonderful I test drove 5 cars a record for both of us ! He was not pushy and a delight to work with. While I did not buy a car from him I found the whole experience to be easy going and humane. Something you can not always say about car salesman. He is a great guy and I felt he listened to my needs and was there to help! Wonderful family owned business. If the sale with private party falls thru I will not hesitate to return and buy a car with him.
I am a teacher living in Oakland and I don't really need a car. However, my folks live in NV and are getting older. My dad just had major heart surgery. Unfortunately, my latest experience at this service department was subpar. The service tech did not let me know that my vehicle was ready, meaning my car was ready to go for about one hour while I was just sitting in the lobby. They should have been in communication so I could have been ready to go and not waste my time, in addition to that when I call to make the appointment they promised that my car was going to be ready in 1.5 and it was about 4 hours, you don't own my time, if you can't keep your promises don't take cus... read more

BE AWARE: Toyota of Berkeley's I-80 Junction service center charges an additional 3% fee if you don't pay in cash. This was not disclosed when I dropped off my car. I only discovered it when I arrived to pick it up... after the work was already completed. At that point, I had no real choice. They had my car, I'd arrived via Uber, and there was no practical way to go withdraw $800 cash from the ATM at that time of day even if I could get to one. I was effectively stuck. Dropped off my car at 10 am! Picked it up at 6 pm just general service and a battery replacement for my car and still wasn't fixed

Surcharge of 3% Waiting for call when car service was completed, had to come in and inquire. At which point, sonja to the time to help someone else and didn't acknowledge the delay.

I found my truck at Toyota of Berkeley, but the purchase experience was one of the worst I've had with any dealership. 1. My appointment was rescheduled with less than an hour's notice. I've always known the dealership was a rip off. We lost a RAV transponder and I was shocked that a replacement would cost $215 but I told them to order it. When I went to the dealership to have it programmed, I signed a bid for $260. I assumed that was the transponder and programming. The work took less than half an hour and my bill was $475. They charged $260 for the work on top of $215 for the item. i'll
