I recently had a disappointing experience with the service department at Billy Howell Ford. After purchasing a 2021 Ford Explorer from the dealership in May 2024, I brought it in for two concerns: a gasoline-like smell from the air vents and a malfunctioning radio. I was initially told I would receive an update within 24 hours, but it took nearly 48 hours and multiple follow-up calls to get any information. Drop off and pick up always go smooth but I get my truck back dirtier than it was, the seat all out of position and sometimes my console has been opened. Service related?
While I appreciate the test drive, the salesman didn't share important info about the cars features... especially the fuel conservation feature that automatically turns on every time you start the vehicle. It was off when I test drove it.
If I could go back in time, I would not buy from Billy Howell Ford-Lincoln. I am a teacher at Denmark High School and Billy Howell is one of business partners. I wanted to support one of our partners and in return, I thought being a teacher they would also look out for me. The sales person I had, was super nice and helpful. But when it came time to purchase the car, I had to talk with another salesman to "seal the deal." Did not get problem solved and was charged fees for a rental on a warranty job.

Took the vehicle to the dealer per request of warranty company after having transmission issues and service light coming on. Had bought the vehicle used less than a year before and had no service other than oil changes and tire rotations until this instance. Was told I over filled the transmission fluid and that all was fine. Drove the vehicle for one long trip and had same issues, returned the vehicle to be told nothing was wrong and it was just the 2018 ford transmission. Took over fours hours for an oil/filter change along with fixing the recall issue on the flexible hoses/brake lines. I was told it would only be 2.5 hours. Then when I got the car back, the measurements on the brake discs actually grew (impossible) from my last visit! The tire pressures on the work sheet were not the same as the computer was telling me indicating that maybe they hadn't been measured at all. It's happened several times with them. I make appointments for service. The day I bring my car in something happens and it would take multiple days to perform the work. I make it clear when I make the appointment I have to have the car back. This time I was told it was a four hour repair because I wanted to wait.
