Worst experience. My husband talked to Brody to confirm they had the minivan we wanted. We drove thirty miles to get here before they closed to find out there was no vehicle and it had been sold a week ago. We were lied to blatantly. Very disappointed. This is not the experience I would expect from Toyota
I've been going there for 7 yrs and I always got good service. I went in for a standard maintenance appt today. I thought I'd be there for about an hour and then pick it up. The man who handled my car told me that I was do for the 80K mile maintenance and that would cost me $2100. I told him that I couldn't afford that, that my car is over 10 yrs old and I never use it because I work from home, so give my car only what it really needs. We had some recall work done at Toyota of Berkeley and the process was so irritatingly cumbersome that we went to the Oakland dealership where we received better and more timely service. Unfortunately the story didn't stop there. Toyota of Berkeley put us in their "system" (after we had expressly asked that they not do that) and we've been getting junk mail from them ever since. First of all, I bought my truck here so I had been coming here for regular service and I get promotional emails for service regularly. The most recent email said I was due for maintenance and here are your "service coupons". Since the yellow light came on in the truck, I decided book an appointment for an oil change for $49.95. I'm on the fence about the service center. Had an appt at 10am for a 20K mile service on my Tacoma (which is basically an oil/oil filter change, tire rotation, and inspection). They had the truck for 7 hours. I understand things can happen with other vehicles that can push things back, but no one even bothered to call. Worst service. I request a quote online. I did get a call. However, when i ask specific question for business purchase then i keep get transfering call 5 times and none were able to help answer the question.
Make sure you get the estimate of charges and sign it before authorizing any work. I neglected to do that and now I am out more money than the car is worth. I will not return to this shop again. Also a comment on the Toyota Brand: it's overrated. Our Prius has had tons of problems including an electrical repair that should have been a recall that costs around $1000. Review #175 - 2020 Before my son and I showed up, I had already made up my mind that we would buy the car that he wants, as long as we find the right color at the right price and if they had it in stock. Do NOT get service done here. Frustrating customer service, and possible scam. We took our 2013 Prius in for a tune-up before making a cross-country drive. We had no issues with the car prior to taking it in. We had an appt, but still had to wait several hours. Then, they told us over $2000 worth or work needed on an oil leak - we had not realized there was a leak at all (no issues while driving, no evidence of oil in the driveway), AND $6000 worth of separate damage done by rodents.
