When my wife and I purchased our vehicle, the salesperson explicitly told us that buying the extended warranty would extend our bumper-to-bumper coverage to 100,000 miles. When we called the warranty company to use our extended warranty for the very first time, the first thing they said was "we can't control what the salespeople tell you" — which tells me this is a known and recurring problem.
