This place is horrible, will take your money for a purchase, give you no updates an when boat deadline comes and goes, still no response, but when i decided to cancel then i got a response and since they didn't deliver the boat, kept my deposit, thieves in the industry, do not go here for anything marine related, the worst
This place is awful. I have never dealt with customer service so bad. Their goal is to take advantage of the lesser informed customer and charge you as much as possible at over-inflated prices. This place is a scam! They don't return calls, they won't give advice, they don't care about your feedback and worst of all, they will charge you for extensive repairs without any discussion of the charges or authorization. Do not bring your boat or motor to this place, the mechanics there are subpar at best and the customer service is absolutely awful. They charged me over $350 to repair a 5 hp motor water pump. When I got it back it did not run, and was worse off than when I brought it in. When asked to talk to the mechanic to see what could possibly be done to repair this the front desk would not allow us to speak, and actually asked him to leave the room. Terrible, terrible,terrible customer service. This by far is the worst place I have ever contacted. Spoke with internet sales who is completely useless and not up to date with info. At least 3-4 sales employees between myself and husband who do not return phone calls. Will never visit or deal with this business again. I honestly have no idea how they are still in business.
Ok, so I've left two reviews on how bad the service department was in handling a 9 month old service call, yes, that's correct it took 9 months to get a simple hinge changed. So they billed me for labor, which I thought was bold on the account it took for ever, now they are charging me late fees. It was a mandatory 14 day quarantine coming from NJ. Worse experience than dealing with the infamous "used car dealer". So, as a retired couple, my wife and I are in the market for a boat. Small and manageable for the small lake we live on. The sales person shows us a boat on their lot that we think is perfect for our needs. We go back to the office and the sales person informs us that that particular boat is a pending sale and not available. I would rather have my tongue removed then shop at Shorts Marine. We have had never ending problems with our boat since we bought it at this place. It was a brand new boat. First time out the helm broke and had to be replaced. The second time out the grounding wire fell off the engine and it took them 5 months to repair a ground wire. Stay far far away.
I bought a 2020 Bayliner last year from Shorts. The sales experience was frustrating and the customer service was terrible. It took several weeks longer to receive the boat than we were told. Everything you called your were told a different story. I took the boat in the fall for service. It took them 3 months or so to complete. A tree recently fell on the boat. Worse service ever. Two years ago, they forgot to paint the bottom of my boat. This year I went to pick up boat. They called me and said it would be done and serviced by the may 10th. Went to get it on the 15th. Nothing was done as far as I requested. Nothing!! Still in storage in a remote site. Told them to give me my boat so I could take it to somebody who would actually do the work.
